For some of the lag problems, try firstly setting your rate to 25000. Bring down the console in game and type rate 25000. That is usually best in higher ping servers, but might work.

Also, check what your FPS is set to. Depending on your graphics card and operating system, try setting it in your options in game. Start at 65 and go from there. FPS is often a killer.

If you are unwired.. good luck. At 54kbps max, it sucks worse than a baby with a straw.

Thanks for the tips on the lag issue. Bones did help me a bit on the rate and I do set it to 25000 all the time but the issue is not my computer nor is it my graphics card which is a pretty high end nvidia card.

My issue is my 1.5mb/s ADSL link running at 0.05mb/s at best during peak times. (I cannot get any higher connection due to my RIM)
I can go through a whole bullshit explanation as to reason why it is like that but i wont.

In 1 sentence, I live in a new estate suburb in VIC Australia and there is no broadband infrastructure here. The government is doing something about but knowing the Aus Government it will take 10years.

In the meantime, Fibre is currently being installed in my street and today it was full of Telco tech freaks running cable so I should get it soon. I have been told to hang in there till April.

The provider Telstra have told me that the RIM my line is connected to is running at 200%.

Yes it is over congested. So i just got to live with it for a while.

I hope i dont get kicked off servers too often but sometimes I cannot even connect to any SKLD servers because my ping is too high. So i just got to bare with it and wait till April.
