Post Gettomg Kicked. Ignoring PB Queries - Windows Defender
I am seriously fed-up with Windows Defender. I have Vista Ultimate and occasionally it sets itself to block certain things like PB Queries (reading client files I'm guessing) and then I have to reboot to reset it.

Does anyone know how to permanently allow PB Queries for Windows Defender? I'll be upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate soon, but unsure if that'll be any different.

I have to wait a while each time because PB in the local Killzone server wont let me back in for a certain amount of time (Prior Ban). Annoying!

Thought about that, but rather find another way. That was my first idea. Thanks for that Soul.

You gotta add some rules in the windows firewall so windows defender knows it.
or
open up windows defender from the control panel and click on Tools then Options under settings section.

Then scroll towards the bottom to where you have Advanced Options.
Click Add and insert the locations of the programs and click ok. This should ignore these programs.

My advise is to turn off WIndows Defender as it is a piece of crap and consider looking into Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 which does a much better job and provides more overall protection.

See how you go. let me know.

Cheers Morlo. I have to get a new Virus Scanner anyway. McAfee Enterprise 8.5 - 9.0 updated is not ready for Windows 7 just yet which is why I'm still on Vista Ultimate. That never failed me till their stupidity recently not upgrading it. The patch failed apparently.

My mate said although Kaspersky is good, it's over the top / over-rated. Correct or not?

Thanks again. I'll try those settings tonight.

PB is working with most AV progs
in some cases, most ar known for Norton AV you need to train or like morlo stated , to add some rules
in worst case you need to open some ports manualy, you find the ports here:
Quote:
Do I have to re-configure my firewall or proxy to use PunkBuster?

In general, if a connection can play the Game online successfully without PunkBuster, then there will be no need to make any changes to a firewall or proxy that may be in use when PunkBuster is Installed and Enabled. PunkBuster communicates over the Internet (and in LAN environments) using the same network channels created and used by the Game, and therefore requires no changes. If, however, you had to adjust your firewall to use the game in the first place, you may need to extend that adjustment to include ports used by PB's auto-update feature. PunkBuster Clients use outgoing UDP Port 24348 to get security info from the PunkBuster Master Servers, PunkBuster Servers use UDP Ports 24348 and 24310.

you running vista so allways make sure you run it as an admin
you gonna upgrade to WIN7 same advice

PB is a third party progy digging deep into the OS so it needs some time to get up to date
same for all AV progs who are around
best advice i can give you
if you have enough space at your hard disc
make there an own place with WIN xp and start it from there
